About The Isle of Wight Radio Society

The Society, the oldest radio club on the Island, has now passed its 60th year.  It was founded by Arthur Wakeley G3MAD, later to become our President.

What is Amateur Radio?

Amateur Radio has its roots in the very invention of radio. Marconi was driven by curiosity and experimentation, and undeterred by those who knew better, went on to “invent” radio.

Club Facilities

The Isle of Wight Radio Society operates its own radio station, its shack, with the callsign G3SKY and it is available for use by any licensed member of the Club.

Other Special Interest Groups

Within the sphere of Amateur Radio there are a number of speciality communication methods that attract like minded amateurs around the world.
