The Isle of Wight Raynet Group

The Isle of Wight Raynet group provides emergency communications for the Emergency Planning Officer and certain user services.

Emergency communications are carried out when normal communications fail or in areas where mobile coverage is sparse. To achieve this the group uses sites allocated for its use and mobile equipment. In addition there are permanent repeater sites on the mainland available for the group to use.

For those who would like to put their hobby to use in the community at large, also at the same time expand their knowledge and experience of radio, then joining Raynet could be the answer. The group meets monthly and also carries out various exercises during the course of the year. Some of these exercises are events held for charity fund raising, where Raynet communications assist the organisers running the event to keep participants safe.

In recent times the group has moved onto using C4FM, having found it provides more benefits over normal FM. Equipment can be provided to those members who do not have this capability.

If your curiosity has been awakened then come along to one of our monthly meetings. The meetings are held at Haylands Farm, 34 Salters Road , Ryde, PO33 3HU, on the first Thursday of each month at seven P.M. We also enjoy a social side as well. I am sure you will see some faces that you are familiar with.
